At the ceremonial academy on June 6 in Veliki Lašče on the occasion of the municipal holiday, our member Eugen Karl Šerbec received an award from Mayor Matjaž Hočevar for his long-term work in associations and contribution to the field of tourism and heritage preservation. The Turjak Tourist Association and the Marij Kogoj Cultural and Artistic Association also joined our association's proposal.
Eugen has been a member of our association since 2007. Before that, he worked as a guide at Turjak Castle, doing this job for 14 years. He studied a lot of literature about the castle and also established contacts with the descendants of the Auersperg family, which he still maintains today. He is still a local tourist guide, especially important when visiting German-speaking groups. He and his wife Alenka also translated a brochure about our fruit drying house into German.
Although in recent years he has had to take care of his wife Alenka, who has a number of serious health problems, he still actively responds to calls for work in the aforementioned societies. CONGRATULATIONS!
