On Sunday, September 21th at 12 p.m, we invite you to the biggest event of our association, the Holiday of Dried Fruits and at 9 a.m to the Trubar`s birth parish.

This tour was given a honorary title for "the best regional tour" in UE Ljubljana in 2016, at a tender for the best theme tour under a slogan My country – beautiful and hospitable, organised by the Tourist association of Slovenia. The purpose of this tour is to pay respects to the father of Slovene literature, whose birth place was in the neighbouring village of the same municipality. A memory of counts of Turjak is revived because they supported the protestants.

 The tour programme:

  • at 9 am departure from Dom krajanov Turjak (bus stop)
  • walk through a forest study path to Trubar's homestead at Rašica, where you will learn something new about the father of Slovenian literature
  • continuing to the church of St Kancian in Škocjan, were Trubar was baptised - by explaining the history of the parish
  • arrival to Gradež, to the main event.

The holiday includes: a tour of the village, demonstration of old rural tasks, local cuisine, a rich market with local products, a varied program of performers who preserve cultural heritage, mushroom picking exhibition, livemusic ...

 From 12 o'clock in Gradež:

  • process of fruit drying in a wood stove and other traditional chores are shown
  • degustation of freshly dried fruit
  • sightseeing tour of the village (fruit drying room, house where the composer Marij Kogoj lived, exhibition of old farm tools, old wells, inn cellar, hayracks, chapels ...)
  • mushroom picking exhibition
  • market with items of domestic craft
  • Gradež style food: millet mash with dried prunes, buckwheat mash with mushrooms, goulash from a cauldron, something from under the lid … and many sweets

At 2 pm:

  • cultural program on Gradež's stage

At 3 pm

  • different food and drinks and a raffle
  • archery
  • music and dance with group
